The summer of 2009 is nearly here. These workshops have taken place for eight years thanks to you and I am grateful. On the agenda this year we have new pieces for the harp, new songs and dances. And I’ll continue to concoct my Greek specialities for you. As you know, for me learning has to come though pleasure, fragrances, laughter, exchange and the sharing of those moments when the only real effort we have to make is to be ourselves.

Transmission
Elisa is Greek but she discovered the Celtic harp in the London underground. This encounter was to transform her life as an artist. She soon began to work with well known Scottish and Irish harpists. She now teaches the Celtic harp in Brittany and participates in international workshops (Dinan festival, Arles festival …) as well as organising workshops all over France. She also directs workshops in vocal music and dance for primary and secondary schools and choral singers, and offers a comprehensive study of Greek music for schools of music.
A present for you !

Dance music and melodies from Greece but also from the Armenian and Sephardi traditions, and personal compositions.
Students will work on :
• Greek rhythms
• Ornamentation
• Various ways of using the left hand
• Improvisation on Greek modals
But will also take time for outings, the seaside, and of course tasting Elisa’s own Greek culinary specialities.
The teaching is oral, but all partitions are given out at the end of the workshop. Singing and dancing are important accessories, but are not obligatory.
The workshops are intended for all those who have studied the harp for at least two years. Each workshop will be divided into two groups, beginner-intermediate and intermediate-advanced. This year the last evening of each workshop will be devoted to a concert with my harp ensemble open to the public. You may participate if you wish. There will be an hour of rehearsal each day. The repertory is in part taken from my book of partitions “Facets of the Celtic harp”, and pieces from previous workshops.
